Event Timeslots (1)
Learn why this description of a bunch of folks on their way to Canterbury is both cutting social satire and pretty darn funny. We'll discuss cultural contexts and vocational stereotypes of Chaucer's era as a way of getting into the humor and the substance of this opening portion of Chaucer's poem. I'll have copies of the general prologue available, but students should ideally have read it before class. It is available in interlinear translation at tiny.cc/p2019chaucer.
